Welcome to the Salt Spring Island Agricultural Alliance
The name "Plan to Farm" comes from the community planning process that went into the development of the Salt Spring Island Area Farm Plan. The Agricultural Alliance is a non-profit society to oversee the implementation of the Area Farm Plan by organizations on Salt Spring Island with interests in agriculture, food production, and sustainable economic development.
The Vision
To help make Salt Spring Island a place where agriculture is a strong, vital, and productive part of the local economy, and is carried out in a manner that protects and promotes a sustainable community.
This website will provide you with information about the Area Farm Plan and the various projects and studies that have been undertaken in the past, or that are currently underway, concerning agriculture and food on Salt Spring Island. It will also serve as an information resource for island farmers and those planning to take up farming on Salt Spring Island.
